Autism Courses

Dr. Cravens offers a variety of trainings designed to support parents and professionals in understanding and working with autistic individuals. As an autistic self-advocate, she brings a unique perspective to topics such as communicating with autistic children, fostering deeper connections, managing challenging behaviors, and building executive functioning skills. Her presentations are tailored to address the needs and desires of parents, aiming to create more positive and enriching experiences. Dr. Cravens also helps professionals enhance in-office interactions, ensuring better outcomes for autistic clients.

This comprehensive course provides everything you need to know about your child, plus valuable extras, with 6 months of access to all materials and future trainings as they’re added. Topics include understanding autism, mindset and self-care, communication, managing behaviors and sensory issues, advocacy, executive functioning, fostering independence, navigating transitions, and celebrating progress. In addition to comprehensive courses, there are single-topic presentations available to help parents and professionals focus on specific skills and areas of growth. These include Communicating with Your Autistic Child, Understanding Autism, Parent Mindset, Connecting Deeper with Your Autistic Child, Managing Challenging Behavior, and Building Executive Functioning Skills. An IEP Training presentation is also in development to provide valuable guidance on navigating the special education process. Each presentation is designed to offer targeted insights and strategies, empowering participants to address the unique needs of autistic children effectively.

Preparing for Autistic Children at a Medical Appointment is a training designed to equip medical professionals with the knowledge and strategies needed to create positive and successful office visits for autistic children. Drawing on parent perspectives and expert insights, this training covers key areas such as understanding autism, dispelling myths, and recognizing unique needs in medical and dental settings. Participants will learn how to prepare the environment, communicate effectively, manage sensory sensitivities, and handle challenges with patience and empathy. The session also includes actionable steps, such as using sensory-friendly tools, adapting procedures, and fostering rapport with both the child and their caregivers. With practical tips and additional resources, this training empowers professionals to provide inclusive, compassionate care for autistic patients. (Coming Feb 2025)
